Paul Alexander Bartlett
Bartlett (When the owl cried) devoted more than 40 years to visiting haciendas throughout Mexico by horseback, foot, canoe, and auto. For the majority of estates visited, this record is the only surviving testimony to their architectural, economic, and general historical importance. Neither the photos nor the drawings are of great artistic merit. The text gives a good notion of the importance of these estates.
